Cilento has added the taste of its own local products
to its hereditary Mediterranean cuisine.
* The famous mozzarella is produced with the milk
made from the buffaloes bred in that area for millennia. It is
possible to visit a farm which produces excellent mozzarella and
yogurt made from milk produced by its own buffaloes bred in a
biological field covering 100 hectars.
* Oil is produced in ancient oil-mills using the
old-style cold process.
* The wine from Cilento is one of the best in Italy,
and it is possible to visit a local firm specialized in the
production.
* The famous Italian pasta, including the fusilli and
cavatelli, is still hand made there.
